• Lead campus LAN engineer supporting entire 25 building, 250-acre corporate HQ.

• Personally responsible for project management and implementation of all Compaq’s LAN construction needs, with multi-million dollar budgetary discretion.

• Drafted and enforced premises cabling distribution standards.

• Duties included inspection of copper and fiber cabling and testing for compliance with EIA/TIA standards; selection, purchasing, staging, configuration and installation of Cisco and Extreme Networks routers and switches; preparation of exceptionally detailed wall-size network design documents.

• Projects included design of a 5000-user Gigabit Ethernet LAN for the campus in 1998, a migration plan for all off-campus WAN sites in Houston/Harris County to join Compaq/DEC’s next-generation "GlobalNet", and a secure, high performance network for the Treasury Department’s trading floor.

• Initiatives included upgrading communication and server rooms to category-5 cabling campus-wide, sniffer analysis of network problems, segmentation of over- utilized broadcast domains into new subnets, and deployment of a campus-wide development network for the product divisions.
